About the Appraiser
The appraiser, Catherine McCormick, has worked within the contemporary art market in both brick and mortar galleries and the rapidly expanding world of art fairs for over a decade. After an internship at Christie's, she began her career at Knoedler & Co. in 2000. In 2012, after stints with several contemporary art fairs, Catherine became the director of Peter Marcelle Project in Southampton, NY (formerly Peter Marcelle Gallery, Bridgehampton, NY). Ms. McCormick spent her undergraduate years at NYU and Marymount Manhattan College, from which she holds a BA in Art History. She holds a Master's degree from St. John's University, and has continued her education in Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Arts at NYU. Ms. McCormick prepares USPAP compliant appraisals for insurance, estate and charitable donations. She is not now nor has ever been disqualified by the IRS from preparing IRS appraisals. She has taken and passed the USPAP exam, the Congressionally-recognized set of appraisal standards promulgated by The Appraisal Foundation: effective through May 2018.
